When (and Why) a 4" Seam Piece Is Needed for Cultured Marble Shower Panels
One of the most common questions we get about cultured marble shower walls is: When do I need a seam piece? Let’s break it down.
When planning a bathroom upgrade, cultured marble shower panels are one of the smartest choices you can make. They’re durable, seamless, and stylish, making them a favorite for both homeowners and contractors.
Here’s a simple guide to understanding when a seam is required and how it affects your custom shower panels.
Maximum Panel Sizes: Know Your Limits
Cultured marble shower panels are manufactured with size limits that impact installation.
Manufacturing maximum (3/8" panels): up to 10' x 7'. If you’re handling your own cultured marble shower installs, you can order panels up to this size.
Our installation maximum: 60" x 96" (5' x 8’). Why smaller? Panels larger than this are heavy, awkward to maneuver, and more prone to damage during installation. To keep installs smooth and efficient, we cap our no-seam sizes at 5x8.
Anything larger than 5x8 during a professional install requires a seam piece.
What Is a 4" Seam Piece?
When your cultured marble shower walls exceed the 5x8 size limit, we use a 4-inch seam strip:
It covers the space where two cultured marble shower panels meet.
It can be installed vertically or horizontally, depending on your design preference.
Unlike solid surface materials, cultured marble doesn’t “fuse” together seamlessly, which makes the seam strip a necessary and durable solution.
